Don’t Cry Over Spilled Bebida Negra
Last Halloween, Kyle and I received an invitation to a birthday party with a Halloween theme in Oia, Spain. It's interesting how Halloween is just another day there, quite different from the festive celebrations in the States.
The Nitty Gritty of Country Life
The region of Galicia in Spain has the most breathtaking landscapes I’ve ever seen, the vineyards, gorgeous sunrises, picturesque beaches, the forest of eucalyptus, Monterey pines, moss covered stone and we have even dined under a pergola of grapevines. It really looks like something out of a fairy tale and we often stop and say, “ I can’t believe we live here!” However, with all the beautiful nature and humidity, brings lots of pests, mold, fungi, and plant diseases.
Embracing Imperfection
Google defines perfection as the absence of faults or defects. Not until we moved to Spain did I realize how much we were living in a society obsessed by perfection.
There’s a sense of freedom in learning to embrace imperfection, maybe that’s what perfection really means. It's possible that true perfection lies in this acceptance, where we find beauty and completeness in our flaws and quirks.
Gardening/Experimenting in O Rosal
We couldn't believe how many different species we can grow here in our little enclave of O Rosal. The micro climate in this area seems to balance humidity and sun just right. At least the Albariño grapes that are lining every street seem to suggest so. Read about Kyle's successes and challenges developing a thriving vegetable garden from seed.
